Touchpad too sensitive

Post by GeneralFailure »

Hello,

I have freshly installed Linux Mint 21 Cinnamon. Unfortunately I noticed that the touchpad is now too sensitive (mouse clicks). You used to be able to adjust the sensitivity in the mouse/touchpad settings, these are now missing? Does anyone have any ideas?

To show details of your PC setup: Plug in all relevant dongles, accessories, and peripherals. Then

Open a Terminal (ctrl-alt-T), then copy-and-paste the following line into the Terminal window, then tap Enter...

Code: Select all

C=code];echo "[$C`inxi -Fxxxpmrz;mokutil --sb-state;xinput;lsusb;lspci;`[/$C"|xed -
After several seconds, xed text editor pops open, showing PC technical data that's necessary to analyze your situation.

Copy-and-paste everything from xed into a Reply here. <The [code] tags have already been inserted for you.>

It seems to be a bug: https://www.linuxmint.com/rel_vanessa_cinnamon.php (Touchpad drivers)

Switching to Synaptics Drivers does not really help.

Does the evdev driver make any difference?

To install evdev...

Code: Select all

sudo apt install xserver-xorg-input-evdev
Restart.

To remove evdev...

Code: Select all

sudo apt remove xserver-xorg-input-evdev
Restart.

Is this a third driver option aside from lininput and synaptics?

Yes, evdev is a third option, from the LM21 Release notes that GeneralFailure links above. Under Touchpad drivers, the last sentence: Note: You can also try installing the "evdev" driver (provided by the xserver-xorg-input-evdev).

A truly touching conclusion!

Don't forget to edit your first post up there to prepend "[SOLVED]" to the subject title.

Touchpad too sensitive

Post by GeneralFailure »

After finding out that another driver doesn't help after all, I was hoping for the new version (21.1). Unfortunately, I can't adjust the sensitivity here either, the laptop is almost unusable (at least when surfing with firefox). Do I have to use the old version 20 until it is no longer supported?
