Test the camera operation with another program, for example:
sudo apt install guvcview
sudo apt install vokoscreen
sudo apt install kino
sudo apt install usbview
(graphical program, install if necessary)
Try installing "webcamoid":

Virtual Camera Support
If you want virtual camera support you need v4l2loopback-dkms installed. You can install it with the following command :
sudo apt install v4l2loopback-dkms
If camera does not appear, check if system sees the camera:
dmesg | grep video
lsmod | grep video
sudo apt install guvcview
sudo apt install vokoscreen
sudo apt install kino
sudo apt install usbview
(graphical program, install if necessary)
Try installing "webcamoid":
