Hello everyone,
I have recently started using Linux Mint and I pretty much got everything to work.
Except Bluetooth. I am using a Bluetooth usb adater.
In the UI it just say "Searching for devices...".
I have tried renaming, turn off and on both my PC and my headset.
Can anyone help me with this problem?

Your Ryzen needs a more recent kernel, to activate and/or enhance subsystems that are controlled by its AMD support chipsets.
From the Mint menus, launch Update Manager, and there click View > Linux Kernels > [Continue].
Then, from the list on the left, select the highest kernel release (currently 5.15 for LM20) and install the top-of-the-list version.
Reboot.
Any improvement(s)?

Bus 001 Device 003: ID 2357:0604 TP-Link TP-Link UB500 Adapter
If the TP-Link UB500 Bluetooth still isn't working, create links for missing RTL8761b firmware:
Open a Terminal (ctrl-alt-T), then copy-and-paste the following into the Terminal window, then tap Enter...
Code: Select all
cd /lib/firmware/rtl_bt;sudo ln -sf rtl8761b_config.bin rtl8761bu_config.bin;sudo ln -sf rtl8761b_fw.bin rtl8761bu_fw.bin;cd
Bluetooth? If so, we're done.
Otherwise:
There's a patch for the TP-Link UB500 Bluetooth adapter in kernel 5.16, but you'll need the Ubuntu Mainline Kernel Installer to get that in LM20:
Open a Terminal (ctrl-alt-T), then copy-and-paste the following 2 lines into the Terminal window, one by one, tapping Enter after each...
Code: Select all
sudo add-apt-repository -y ppa:cappelikan/ppa && sudo apt update -y
sudo apt install mainline
Reboot.
If you later wish to remove the Ubuntu Mainline Kernel Installer and its PPA (this doesn't remove your installed kernels) ...
Code: Select all
sudo add-apt-repository -y --remove ppa:cappelikan/ppa;sudo apt remove -y mainline;sudo apt update -y

Re: Need help getting Bluetooth to work
Ignore that, I did not see the other advice below the update kernel.
I did the cd command for TPLink and it is working now.
Thank you very much.

Re: Need help getting Bluetooth to work
Great.
Just to be clear for others, the fix -- for the 2357:0604 chipset in the TP-Link UB500 with LM20 -- is to create links for required RTL8761b firmware:
Open a Terminal (ctrl-alt-T), then copy-and-paste the following into the Terminal window, then tap Enter...
Code: Select all
cd /lib/firmware/rtl_bt;sudo ln -sf rtl8761b_config.bin rtl8761bu_config.bin;sudo ln -sf rtl8761b_fw.bin rtl8761bu_fw.bin;cd
P.S. Not mentioned here, but other factors: Disable Secure Boot in your BIOS, because it's known to interfere with device drivers & firmware. If you run Windows on the same PC as Linux, it's best to disable Windows Fast Startup, otherwise it can leave your hardware in a zombie state at any time.
