Webcam not working on new Acer Swift 3 SF314-512

Post by StickyTongue »

Hi all,

I have a brand new Acer Swift 3 SF314-512 with a freshly installed Linux Mint 21. I previously had trouble with the Wifi which is now solved:

viewtopic.php?f=52&t=384311

I now have a new different problem which is that my webcam is not working.

I ran

Code: Select all

sudo -E hw-probe -all -upload
and I got the following output:
https://linux-hardware.org/?probe=951c734c1b

Here is the latest output when I run

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxxxrz

Hi all,

I have not managed to solved this issue. Can anybody help? Is more info needed to help me troubleshoot this issue? I am assuming that I am missing a driver but I am unsure how to install it and which one I need to install.

I think I have identified the correct drivers needed being the following:

https://github.com/intel/ipu6-camera-bins

Thanks!

Hey,

any news on that topic? I am also struggling with my Linux installation on an Acer Swift 3 2022 model; had the same issue with the WiFi, which I could solve by installing the OEM Kernel. But the camera is still not working.

I found out, that the IPU6 drivers from https://github.com/intel/ipu6-camera-bins are also available via

Code: Select all

add-apt-repository ppa:oem-solutions-group/intel-ipu6
where I installed several packages that are made for INTEL Alder Lake platform (like libipu6ep, libcamhal-ipu6ep0) but still my camera is not working. Has anyone made any progress on that? Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!!

Post the output of each of these commands:

sudo lshw -class multimedia

lsusb

lspci

sudo apt-get install usbview
(graphical program, install if necessary)

If camera does not appear, check if system sees the camera:
dmesg | grep video
and
lsmod | grep video
