Bluetooth Not working

Post by 10Mint »

Hi All,

So I have seen this issue before, on many forums and I have since tried all the fixes and had no joy whatsoever. So I have an Acer Aspire (computer name)

Code: Select all

james@james-Aspire-A517-52
--------------------------
OS: Linux Mint 20.3 x86_64
Host: Aspire A517-52 V1.26
Kernel: 6.0.9-060009-generic
Uptime: 8 mins
Packages: 3199 (dpkg), 14 (flatpak)
Shell: bash 5.0.17
Resolution: 1920x1080
DE: Cinnamon
WM: Mutter (Muffin)
WM Theme: Mint-Y-Dark (Mint-Y)
Theme: Mint-Y [GTK2/3]
Icons: Mint-Y [GTK2/3]
Terminal: gnome-terminal
CPU: 11th Gen Intel i5-1135G7 (8) @ 4.200GHz
GPU: Intel Device 9a49
Memory: 4099MiB / 7726MiB
I am running Kernel 6, which is higher than 5.14 where it should have been fixed. I am running a MediaTek Bluetooth MT7921, the device is up to date, (apt-get update, apt-get upgrade), I have no idea where to go next, but I am starting to suspect the driver isn't compatible.

Code: Select all

james@james-Aspire-A517-52:~$
james@james-Aspire-A517-52:~$ sudo dmesg | grep -i blue

Does anyone have any advice?

Have you tried another kernel? Mint goes with 5.15. Update a dozen of days ago fixed bluetooth issue for my portable speaker

I have tried that one, but hoped the fix would have been included in the latest, or is the kernel not keeping the previous fixes

In Terminal:
dmesg | grep mt7921e

Reboot.

Try this:
Solved by powering off the laptop (instead of rebooting it)
Fixed per user: "Following this suggestion, I powered off the laptop (instead of rebooting it) and unplugged the power cable for a few minutes. Then the Wi-Fi adapter magically appeared."

Or upgrade kernel to 5.16.19 or 5.17
