(solved) Mouse scroll changes sound volume up or down

I am unsure how this got changed.

I use the mouse scroll extensively to scroll up and down in documents and spreadsheets.

Suddenly this morning the mouse scroll increases or decreases the sound volume..it no longer scrolls up or down, and when I click the scroll wheel on my mouse it mutes the sound...

Very frustrating.

I have set a shortcut as alt and + to increase volume and alt and - to decrease, and that is still working.

I just cannot scroll in any page or document any more..

Any ideas where i can resolve this?

I have restored to system timeshift of yesterday, but that did not resolve the issue

oops..I just plugged the mouse out and back in , and the problem is gone.....
