Touchpad freezing after update to Mint 20.3

Hello :)

I am new here and hope to choose the right category for my question:

My problem is, after the update to Mint 20.3, my touchpad freezes when I use clicking on it, or use the special keys on my Think Pad. Also, the trackball doesn't work. I have a Thinkpad T550.

What I tried: used libinput as a driver, evdev and synaptics, but the problem stays with all of them. Secure boot in UEFI is disabled. The touchpad is recognized, I checked that (it is a synaptics touchpad).

And at this point I don't know what to do anymore. Would be glad for help.
