Fresh Install 21.1 Cinnamon - Bluetooth Mouse Not Working?

Post by JeZxLee »

Hi,

I just did a fresh install of Linux Mint 21.1 Cinnamon 64Bit onto an older desktop.
Desktop has an ASUS USB Bluetooth 5.0 adapter which seems to be working.
Only issue is my Bluetooth Microsoft mouse is not working?
The mouse is paired in the Bluetooth app(icon on lower-right of screen).
When I paired the mouse to the Bluetooth, it did work for a few minutes?

Any ideas?
Thanks!

Jesse

Try this..

Code: Select all

In terminal type in the following...
bluetoothctl
It should respond with the following...
Agent registered.

It should be now in root..
[bluetooth]#
Type in..
scan on
Should result in..
Discovery started
It should return with..
[New] Device (eg) F0:65:DD:67:55:09 Name of bluetooth mouse

Then type..
pair F0:65:DD:67:55:09
The results should say..
Pairing Successful

Then type..
connect F0:56:DD:67:55:09
The results should say..
Connection Successful.

Then type...
trust F0:65:DD:67::55:09
They result should say..
Trust succeeded

kato181 Thanks much for your helpful reply! This worked just fine on my Lenovo 11e gen 6 laptop running Linux Mint 21.1 Mate. However, I had no luck with the same set of bluetoothctl commands on my Linux Surface Pro 9 running Linux Mint 21.1 Mate. My Logi M585 mouse connected, but then after a few commands on the Desktop, dropped the connection. Other bluetooth mice did not connect at all. FYI, I've put in a help request on the linux-surface github, but no reply so far.

Here was the last of several pair and connect commands entered after my M585 mouse stopped working:

[M585/M590]# connect CF:22:BE:83:F2:F8
Attempting to connect to CF:22:BE:83:F2:F8
Connection successful
[M585/M590]# trust CF:22:BE:83:F2:F8
[CHG] Device CF:22:BE:83:F2:F8 Trusted: yes
Changing CF:22:BE:83:F2:F8 trust succeeded

And here is the output of inxi -Fxxxrz from my surface pro 9:
