ZC0301 Webcam, cannot compile driver zc0301-1.10.tar.gz

Postby webcityca » Thu Jan 28, 2010 3:20 pm

Having trouble getting a webcam working with Mint 8 on a Dell Inspiron 1150.

in the result of Isusb :
Bus 003 Device 002: ID 0ac8:301b Z-Star Microelectronics Corp. ZC0301 Webcam

Cheese just gives a grey screen and Skype gives a green screen.

I have followed the advice at this post: viewtopic.php?f=49&t=11421&p=70901&hilit=zc0301#p70901
and attempted to install zc0301-1.10.tar.gz

But hit a problem when I try to compile with 'make clean', as per the readme (http://www.mjmwired.net/kernel/Document ... zc0301.txt) I get the following error:

make -C /lib/modules/`uname -r`/build M=/home/nana/Documents/Webcam Vimicro 301PL/zc0301-1.10 clean
make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.31-14-generic'
make[1]: *** No rule to make target `Vimicro'. Stop.
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.31-14-generic'
make: *** [clean] Error 2

I'm new to linux so this is as far as I can get.

I've attempted to use gspca according to various posts here but get no further when it comes to compiling the drivers.

modprobe gspca
gives FATAL: Module gspca not found.

viewtopic.php?f=49&t=11421&p=70901&hilit=zc0301#p70901 seems to be what I need to do but if I can get some help making the compiling work that would be great.

I have not read the posts you link to - just a quick question I always ask when I see compilation problems
Have you installed build-essential

Code: Select all

apt install build-essential

(And as always I don't remember if it's build-essential or build-essentials  Have to look it up )
Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it

Return to “Hardware Support”
