HELP me tweak my nVidia settings.....

Post by sosaudio1 » Mon Jul 05, 2010 3:11 pm

OK so I have searched the forums and searched and searched.....but....the question is....what are the latest tweaks for the nVidia 950 drivers in Xorg with Compiz that will make it run like a champ...I have tried a few configs and they bring me to the dreaded low level resolution then the reconfigure the Xorg.conf file....It is a Dell Dimension 2400 with a gig of ram. The nVidia is an 8400GS as you can see below. I want to fix my xorg up correctly making sure I have the most optimum performance out of video...having problems in Miro with Quicktime HD. It doesn't want to play the video correctly. Video faster than audio.....Lemmie know what to twieak on the xorg file so that Compiz is happy

su lspci -v

I solved the issue on my system. Take a look here.

http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.p ... 57#p294257

It took some risk and trial and error but it works perfectly now.

will have to try this...couldn't get it to fix with Mint 8 but then I had compiz and a system that worked better than the LM9 that I have now. Now I have the latest nvidia .56 but it is unstable and compiz does not want to work....I did the smudge method trying to get off of the blacklisted and that did not fix, so I will try the new kernel
It all started with SuSE then it went to OpenSuSE, then a short time with Ubuntu..now it is all Mint
