usb flash and other drives do not automount

Post by verden »

Hi this problem is almost a dealbreaker for me. Whenever i connect a usb flash drive or usb hard drive(seagate freeagent) into my computer nothing happens. Its not in my file system but shows up when i lsusb in a terminal.
I've read through the forum topics on Mint and ubuntu and tried a few things but the problem doesn't resolve. I'm using the 32bit version of Mint 9. I don't have this problem with other linux distro's at all. Any ideas as i may soon have to try another distro as a permanent solution.

I think i may have solved this problem for now. I read this post http://tips4linux.com/usb-devices-not-m ... res-a-fix/
I issued this command in a terminal sudo modprobe -r floppy
and went further down the post and edited my /etc/modules and added hid
usbhid
usb_storage
I then rebooted and my usbdrives now automount.
