Dell printer install

Post by sespela » Wed Apr 13, 2011 8:17 am

I installed Linux Mint 10 for a friend of mine recently and now she is having problems using her printer.
It's a Dell Photo All-In-One Printer 922.
Dell support does not provide a Linux based driver, so my question is; Are there any other ways to make the printer compatible with LM 10?

In advance, thanks.:)

http://www.openprinting.org/printer/Dell/Dell-AIO_922 is a link detaling the compatibility with Linux, its listed as paperweight, in other words it doesnt work . I found info in another spot that suggests that this printer is a Lexmark with Dell covers. Lexmark has the absolutely worst Linux support of all printers. I tell people to stay away from them.
You can try loging into the cups interface at http://localhost:631 and try a few different dell drivers to see if any will give some functionality.
I trust Microsoft about as far as I could comfortably spit a dead rat
Ubuntu is my past, it is no longer the place it once was, on its forums you are no longer free to voice your opinion.
