Acer AspireOne 722 no microphone/line-in

Post by bluebundy » Mon Nov 28, 2011 10:43 pm

Hi LM group,

just bought a new Acer Aspire One 722 and am facing the common problem that the microphone jack doesn't work. Only line-out on my headset works, but no line-in sound available and hence not being able to use Skype. The sound of the Logitech C200 webcam doesn't work either. I tried to fix the problem with all sorts to fixes as mentioned in

http://wiki.debian.org/DebianAcerOne to recognize the right model or
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1313137&page=2 to decouple the left and right microphone channels.

All this without success. Also tried paman but don't know how I could change anything there. Pavucontrol or alsamixer changes all without success. I guess the system doesn't recognize the right card/codec.
Does anybody have an idea how to fix it? Do I have to get rid of pulseaudio?

Try the latest kernel:

http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/ma ... y/current/

I think it solves this issue.
I was installing Ubuntu on a Acer 522, and a similar problem came up. While searching for a solution, someone mentioned that the latest kernel solved the issue. Can't confirm if it will work for you though. We used the decouple channel method to get the mic working :)

Hi, thanks for the answer. I updated to kernel 3.2. Unfortunately, I doesn't solve the issue. The external mic at the jack still doesn't work at all.

Meanwhile bought a creative sound blaster play! USB soundcard that works. But the volume is too low there and hence not a full solution. Would be better to use the built-in hardware. Spent all day in different forums but nobody seems to have a good solution for this?

I tried it in on Mint 12 and it solves the issue with the internal mic but not the external (headset). On LMDE with kernel 3.2.0 the mentioned package cannot be installed. But now I have this problem:

I cannot install the package but now this is constantly causing error messages.
Appreciate further help on this issue.

PS: I am back to using Windows 7 to use Skype. Is there really no way to get this mic jack running under Linuz Mint (be it 12 or LMDE)?

Hi everybody, i just install linuxmint 12 on aspire one 722 and i trie Mageia 2 beta 3 and i found that the internal mic
work well so i had the config in the file /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf and it work good.
it work now in Skype.
Add this.
alias sound-slot-1 snd_hda_intel
alias sound-slot-0 snd_hda_intel
options snd-ac97-codec power_save=1
I hope this solve the problem.
