Fixing a buggy DSDT

Postby dfraser » Sat Feb 03, 2007 9:45 am

Hi guys,
I'm just wondering where the dsdt.asl file (or equivalent) is kept. I tried the Ubuntu forums but where they pointed me wasn't installed there through mint.
I'm a fair Linux n00b but mint is awesome (much more complete than ubuntu, my first Linux, experience was).
If anyone knows where this file is, or even better can give me step-by-step instructions on how to update this file I would very much appreciate it.

BTW can't wait for Bianca!

I don't have a clue what you're talking about (DSDT??). But if you're looking at where a file is located:

Code: Select all

sudo updatedb; locate dsdt.asl

Hey thanks for that..couldn't actually find it but its a neat way to search.

Half the problem is I'm also in your situation (what the hell is DSDT?!) but i need to fix it to get sound working. Here are some links relating to my problem;

http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-444743-start-0-postdays-0-postorder-asc-highlight-sndhdaintel+acpi.html

This is probably the most major thing holding me back from using Mint (or any other distro) as my main OS, as I use my laptop for lots of media.
