1) When playing videos computer locks up and can only be un-frozen with Ctrl-Alt-F1 "sudo service lightdm restart"
2) Unmounting or ejecting an external USB hard drive results in a "panic attack" and crash of computer.
3) Any attempt to activate ATI/AMD fglrx drivers results in screen gibberish.
None of these problems occured in Mint 10 or 11.
None of the updates over the last month have fixed any of these problems.
Running Toshiba Satellite with AMD processer.

Re: Continuing problems with Lisa
Update: For the last 3 days I have been running Mate sessions exclusively. What I have found is that, 1) the screen lock-up problems when running videos disappeared; 2) the panic attacks when unmountiung a USB drive also disappeared. So for some reason, the freeze-ups and crashes only occur under Gnome Shell, but not under Mate. I don't have a clue why that is the case. I hope future updates will resolve the problem, because I really don't like Mate all that much.

For anyone having similar problems:
I installed the new Linux kernal and headers 3.0.0-15.25 from the repositories, and it solved both the freeze-ups and panic crashes in Gnome Shell. Still no luck on the fglrx drivers.

From what I can gather, the ATI driver does not get along with Gnome-shell 3.2. Who knows who is to blame. AMD have released the 11.9 driver which is reputed to have solved the problems.

Re: Continuing problems with Lisa
As far as ATI goes, I'm convinced it has to do with Gnome 3. On Mint 12 KDE the proprietary driver works perfectly for me.
