Hello,
I just booted into Linux Mint using a USB flash drive, and the text used in menus is just dashes...I use a regular Gefore FX 5200 graphics board that works with Ubuntu.
Any idea?
Thanks,

Geforce FX 5200 with currently driver not work with Gnome 3 shell. Mint 12 Live session use Gnome shell desktop with nouveau driver. Maybe this work on ubuntu 11.04 or before . but i think in Ubuntu 11.10 it automatically switch to unity 2D .
You can try add nomodest to grub loader
When you see text : auto boot in xx second , press TAB
and insert text : nomodeset between "quite splash" and "--"
quite splash nomodeset--
After install. Crtl+Alt+Backspace to logout , and at login screen, click at little cogwheel, select gnome classic or MATE.
Run all Update. ( you can install NVIDIA driver , but the NVIDIA-173 not work with MGSE and Cinnamon )
