Try this

sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg 

After that I think it works again
If not perhaps the simplest way is to boot into "recovery mode" and take care you are root
If you have an internet connection here - start Envy
Reboot when ready
If not
Then edit xorg.conf
nano /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Change driver in Section "Device" to "vesa"
Reboot
When you have booted normally start Envy

A fresh driver install may be good
Use the latest version of envy - check it's home page

Also check the backup of xorg.conf (at least I think that a backup was made) for your other problems
