linux mint lxde 12, problem in mainbaord M748LMRT- PC CHIPS trying to install.

Congratulations on the distribution "linux mint".

I have the following hardware:

M748LMRT Motherboard-PC CHIPS.
Pentium III 500 MHZ.
512 MB of RAM
20 GB hard drive.
Video onboard Sis 620
Cmi 8738 Audio Multimedia Device

I downloaded the iso linux mint 12 lxde, and with unetbootin decompressed in windows on the C: drive, boot the system with unetbootin and boot, when i was booting the system have the next message.

sda doesn't support DPO or FUA
ata1.00: configured for UDMA/25
ata1.00: device reported invalid chs sector 0
ata1.00: EH complete

I have this message again and again and the installer doesn't load.

Mint 12 is not listed as a supported OS on the unetbootin site, though ubuntu 11.10 is so I can't see why it wouldn't work. Have you read the requirements of installing from a 'frugal' install http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/unetbo ... stallmodes?

I burned the iso image into a cd, when i tried booting, i have the next messages:

Then It is impossible booting.

But When I used the CD in other computer works fine.

I had tried this mainboard about 10-12 years ago ( with windows anyway ), i think the problem is SiS chipset , because when i try install win XP or win 2000, IDE interface cannot set to DMA but PIO mode only ( XP performance very poor, win 2000 performance more acceptable ) . This mainboard chipset is design for Win 9x, maybe you can try change IDE transfer mode in BIOS to PIO ( do not use auto in Hard drive detection ) .
