nVidia GT555 issues on Lenovo Y570...

Post by kad3t »

I've replaced my laptop from one having nVidia 8600GT to a Lenovo Y570 with nVidia GT555 and all hell broke lose. :) Basically after installing fresh Minty :) my system does not detect any additional drivers for the GPU and runs on secondary GPU, the Intel HD 3000 built in my i7 CPU. How can I get Mint to notice the discrete GPU and downlad/install drivers for it so I could use acceleration?

[Edit] your original post and add [SOLVED] once your question is resolved.

Check if you can disable integrated Graphic in BIOS.
If not, check this site (for NVIDIA hybrid graphic) : http://bumblebee-project.org/
Ubuntu PPA : ppa:bumblebee/stable
Good Luck :)

I've followed that guide, installed bumblebeed with latest drivers but still get an error while trying to run daemon... will look more into it tomorrow after work and maybe add terminal listings here if I don't manage to get it to run. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction though. :)
