partitioning help

Post by uhohthisismo » Sun Feb 18, 2007 6:42 pm

ok i dont know which forum this would go in but this seemed appropriate.
and i also know this is a linux forum and not a windows forum but clem and u guys are the best computer support ive ever seen. =]

so my XP sp2 detects my 111gb hard drive as only 47. i do not have any partions on it. just one big one. when i run partition magic, it shows my 111gb hard drive with only 20gb used like it is, but wont let me create any paritions so i can install mint.

when i run gparted from the mint livecd it shows 80gb used and still wont let me partition!

thanks for any help in advance

Probably an issue with the BIOS or a defective disk? How old is that PC in question? Did you do something before with that disk or is this a brand-new disk?

Can you please tell us the disk make, disk type, PC make, CPU type, and the BIOS version numbers?
