Can't Mount Windoxs XP Drive

Post by whistlerspa » Sun Nov 26, 2006 6:24 am

I get an 'unknown error' message when I try to access my Windows hda1 drive for music files. There is no entry for it in fstab I see . Does anyone know what the code should be. I've tried a couple of things but get a 'no final line' error.

Have this sorted now using scripts in etc/fstab and mtab.

I used this myself and it works flawlessly:

This involves installing ntfs-3g and modifying your /etc/fstab file. It was very straightforward and has worked beautifully ever since. Good luck! :)

have something like this line in your fstab.

if you dont have ntfs-3g:
/dev/hdxx /media/WinXp ntfs defaults,nls=utf8,umask=007,gid=46 0 1

if you have ntfs-3g:
/dev/hdxx /media/WinXp ntfs-3g defaults,nls=utf8,umask=007,gid=46 0 1

hdxx is actually yor partition. WinXP is just a suggested directory. you can make your own directory name and replace it accordingly.

hope this helps.
