NTFS Windows drive disappeared from my desktop

Post by carltonh » Thu Mar 15, 2007 12:29 pm

My NTFS Windows drive disappeared from my desktop. Actually, that drive has a FAT (sda2) and a NTFS (sda1) partition. The FAT drive still shows up on the desktop and shows all the data when I open it. I can go to the /media/ directory.and see sda1 and sda2. However, when I open sda1 it shows nothing in it. I know that's not the case because I can still boot into XP using Grub, and its all there. I right click and it shows 133GB free space, but that's all.

So did my NTFS settings get altered in an update? I didn't install anything except automatically recommended updates at the time. The only other cause I could imagine would be if my 3 yr. old did something.

Just to be clear, this is on an installed 2.2 since 2.2 came out, not a liveCD.

Well, oddly enough, the NTFS partition reappeared when I rebooted, so who knows what caused the problem, but it's fixed now. --Thanks
