I´ve acquired a 2TB Expansion Desktop Drive which is Windows based. What I really want is a Backup Drive for use with Linux and Windows.
Can the Expansion Drive be reconfigured so that it can be used as backup drive?

Re: Expansion drive to Backup drive?
Best to format the drive in NTFS so windows can use it.
For linux, if your backup soft (or custom script) is able to tar up files ,it'll keep all the important info on the files.
I've found that 'Backerupper' is able to store your backup in a tar.gz file ,enabling you to backup to an NTFS formatted drive. ( source : http://www.thegeekstuff.com/2012/05/bac ... tu-desktop )
If you would just copy the files from linux to an NTFS drive , the ownerships of the files are not kept.
Hope that helps
