Changing UUID's after partition resizing/deletion

Post by Pauly1980 »

Hi all,

I ran out of space on my root partition as I had only installed mint 18 to see if I could run without using windows. It has been such a good experience that I haven't once opened windows in the last 2 or so months. Anyways I only had a 20gig partition for the OS and a tiny swap partition. Today I had to resize the partitions and to do that I had to delete and recreate the swap partition. All the other partitions retained their UUID's except the swap partition. I have updated fstab to reflect the new UUID but just wondered if there was any other config that needed to be updated?

Cheers,
Paul

No.
You did great, and nothing more is needed.

You can run this command, just to see if everything is the way it should be...

Code: Select all

lsblk -f
Mint 18.2 Cinnamon, Quad core AMD A8-3870 with Radeon HD Graphics 6550D, 8GB DDR3, Ralink RT2561/RT61 802.11g PCI
Linux Linx 2018

Code: Select all

nvme0n1
├─nvme0n1p3 swap abc9ff83-b7fc-4970-9b40-18ba616fb7ce [SWAP]
├─nvme0n1p1 ext4 65f59978-7434-4683-acc6-023c763abd3b /
└─nvme0n1p2 ntfs StorageSSD E0748B94748B6BDA
This is the output for the relevant drive. Looks good to me but if it's not just let me know.

Thanks,
Paul
