one ext4 usb drive does not automount

Post by drhex »

Using mint 18.2 Cinnamon. Normally, when I plug in a USB device, a sound is played, the various partitions on the device are automounted and a Nemo window is opened for each partition.
Recently, I created an ext4 filesystem on a USB thumbdrive. When I plug it in, there is no automount. However, if I open Nemo manually and look under peripherals, the device is listed there and I can click on it and access the files. After I do that (but not before), it is available under /media/USER/LABEL and as an icon on the desktop.
Other ext4 USB devices that I created a long time ago automount as usual when I plug them in.
I looked through the options in tune2fs to see if there was some automount flag one could enable, but found none.

What could cause automount to behave different for different devices?
