Not show unmounted drives in the sidebar of Nemo

Post by Bob Fletcher »

Linux Mint 18.3 Cinnamon
Attempting not to show unmounted drives in the sidebar of Nemo.

There is much on this topic in the Mint and Ubuntu forums and elsewhere but non of this works at. least for me.
In Disks app there is a option “Show in user interface” that does not work.
Where it is claimed to work one is guided to make a mount point etc. /mnt/windows/ then to manually edit /etc/fstab adding the drive. Reboot or use “$ sudo mount -a” and the device will no longer be visible in Nemo. Not for me. So what am I doing wrong?
From my /etc/fstab first drive is not mounted.

Code: Select all

# sda1 Windows 10 drive not mounted
UUID=666E78D26E789C8D /mnt/windows ntfs-3g nosuid,nodev,nofail,noauto 0 0

Code: Select all

# sda1 Windows 10 drive mounted
UUID=666E78D26E789C8D /mnt/windows ntfs-3g nosuid,nodev,nofail 0 0
Ideally I would like LM to ignore all additional drives except USB devices, but must not ask for too much.
