Create Partition in 1TB HDD [SOLVED]

Post by JoHubb »

Newish to Mint, running 18.3 Mate. Updated to level 4.

I have a 1TB HDD. It is free space - unallocated. I would like to create a 250GB partition in this for encrypted documents - LibreOffice.

When I try to do this using the Disks Manager I end up with:

"Error creating partition"
Don't know how to create partitions this partition table of type `PMBR' (udisks-error-quark, 0)

In the Disk Manager menu I chose 'Compatible with Linux systems (ext4)'

My PC is dual boot but both boots run off other drives.

Any help gratefully received.

Try using Gparted instead. If you don't have it installed, you can get it through Software Manager.

Good to hear that Gparted worked!

When you have the chance, could you please edit your original post and add [SOLVED] to the beginning of the Subject Line. It helps other members.

A good recommendation for me too.
Just used it to recover an unmounted partition.
