Creating partition separate from an LVM

Post by stillrottentothegore »

Hey guys,

I normally run Arch 64 but I run Mint as well from time to time, and I'm looking to create a small partition for it. I have an LVM setup with Arch, and I've left about 120GB or so on my hard drive unallocated so that I could extend a logical volume if need be. In this case, what I'd like to do is use that free space to create a partition for Mint - problem is I can't figure out how to do this without erasing the other partitions. If I create another logical volume for Mint in my volume group, it'll just mount along with Arch (which seems problematic), will it not? Is there a way I can make a non-LVM partition for Mint that won't touch Arch and can be put separately from the other ones I've got?

Cheers and thanks in advance
