SD card not recognized

Post by isuzufan »

I've searched these forums and elsewhere on the internet, but I can't find a solution that works for my situation. My (i686) laptop running Mint XFCE will not recognize any SD card that I insert into the internal card reader. However, all four cards I've tried WILL work on WinXP and Win7 machines. In fact, the SAME laptop previously running WinXP would recognize all SD cards, and now with Mint installed it will not recognize them.
From reading other posts, many of you have asked the person seeking help to run various terminal commands. I've run a few of those commands and have pasted the output below. Hopefully that will make this process more efficient. I'm sorry if the cause of my problem is obvious, but I'm new to this and not sure how to diagnose my own issues. Thank you very much in advance for any help you can give me.
First I ran inxi -Fxz (with an SD card inserted) to get my basic system info. (Note: I just updated the kernel today, to no effect.)

From other posts I've seen, I ran the command tail -f /var/log/messages, but received:

Then I ran lspci -v. Near the end there is a reference to an SD controller, but I'm not sure if that means that Mint is recognizing the SD port or not:
