Having a hard time with partition going read-only

Post by ppazos »

Today I started working as every day, and after a couple of hours I noticed all file icons on the file manager had a lock on them.

Then tried to delete a file and got "file system mounted as read-only".

I'm using Linux Mint 17.3 and now I can only boot after going through recovery mode, then when I'm in, everything works OK for a couple of minutes, then I get the lock icons back on every file.

I'm really not sure what is going on or how to proceed. Tried to fsck from the recovery mode, until I god that sda1 was clean, but still going to read-only after booting.

Help would be much appreciated.

Hi,
please post the results of terminal inquiry:

Code: Select all

ll
Those are two lower case L.

Either your filesystem is damaged, which causes it to get mounted read-only, or it is at capacity (check df -h and df -hi).

After some failed boots, and entering on recovery mode, did package fix, and fscks, it started to boot OK and now is running normally. Really not sure what the issue was.
