[Solved] Can't mount Google Drive

Post by FrankB616 »

Used to use the following command to mount my GDrive in XFCE.

Code: Select all

google-drive-ocamlfuse ~/google-drive
Worked on Mint 19.1, but not on 19.3 Just seems to lock up the file manager.

Suggestions?

Thanks.

Frank.

OK, found the solution which is specific to XFCE and a couple of other DE's that don't have native tools to mount Google Drive. It can be done two ways, as noted in the link below.

When I upgraded to 20.1, I had forgotten that I needed the ocamlfuse PPA (which I lost during the upgrade) to make this work. Here is the full solution in a tutorial. I can confirm that it works just fine in XFCE. Just note that it is SLOW when retrieving a file list from a directory on Google Drive that contains a lot of files. The file manager has not locked up. Just give it time.

I think I am going to try installing the Gnome dependencies and use the Gnome Control Center on my other machine just to be able to compare the two.
