<SOLVED> Which "Identify As" option do I select from Disks -> Edit Mount Options?

Post by solicredetibi »

I'm running Linux Mint 20 Cinnamon 64-bit.

I'm trying to mount an external HDD. When I go to Disks -> Edit Mount Options, I get several options in the "Identify As" drop down menu. Which one do I select? Another post, for a non-removable drive, said to select the UUID option. Do I do the same for an external removable drive? Also, when I used gparted to create my partition I named it "PRIMARY 18TB". So does that mean I select the option with "PRIMARY" in it? Thank you.

External drives are auto mounted and you get a drive icon on the desktop.

My external wasn't showing up on my desktop. So I followed another post & learned that I didn't have any partitions on my external HDD. So I used gparted to add a gpt partition. Then I thought I had to edit the mount options. Anyway, I unmounted my external HDD then plugged it back in & it showed up on my desktop. But, it isn't named "PRIMARY 18TB", it's named "18 TB Volume". Shouldn't it have the name I gave it? Or did I screw something up?

Nvm. When I created the partition with gparted, I left the label section blank & only named the partition.
