Using Mint mate 20 and I am in the market for a PCIe FireWire card to download videos from my past mini DV collection. There are several 1394a/b cards out there, but I need one that has driver support in Linux. Does anyone have any experience with this or suggestion on a card. They always seem to have drivers for Windows. Here is an example -

Adding to this post.... I found a card that says it supports Linux out of the box. Using the TI chip.

Re: Firewire PCIe card
I will answer my own question here, as the Ablecon PEX-FW107 was confirmed elsewhere to be basically plug and play in Ubuntu, and I am sure also in Mint. I have ordered it from Amazon and when I get it I will report back to confirm that. The key here is the TI chip.

Re: Firewire PCIe card
I have the Vantec combo card you listed and it is a great one, plug and play. Also have a Shinestar card that is plug and play. Both work outstanding with Mint.
