USB 2.0 Thumb Drive Detected But Mint Says Drive Doesn't Exist

Post by SC7151 »

Hi,

I'm trying to format add files to my USB 2.0 thumb drive. It's detected by Disks and GParted, and terminal as /dev/sdb. It isn't being read by the file manager, and when I try to format it it claims the drive isn't there when it actually is. I've tried everything to get it up and running. Need help and a walkthrough on how to fix this problem. It's happening with all my thumb drives on all my usb ports...all brand new computer and brand new drives.

If you are capable of running commands from the terminal please post the output from the following commands:

Code: Select all

lsb_release -sd

sudo lsblk -S
sudo lsblk -o+f
Please use the code tag to make it easier to read. See the "</>" button.

You should run the command with the aforementioned USB storage device connected.
🐧Linux Mint 20.3 XFCE (UEFI - Secure Boot Enabled) dual boot with Windows 11
