I have a few USB HDD's, split up and named to my taste with all options possible in the Gnome Disk utillity. I formatted a few of them ext4 instead of exFAT. In Double Commander - my std. file manager - I don't see those names, only the type/serial/partition number from that disk and in some other software too.
Can this be altered and how?
I use the latest version of Mint
Thanks

Re: Rename an USB device
If you connect them but ensure they are dismounted,
Go to GParted and you can should be able to rename them easily in there.
Right click the drive/partition and select 'rename'.
