Hi,
After a lot of searching and testing i found the way to get my Epson Perfection V39 (GT-S650) functioning!
Follow the instructions of this site:

Especially: Avoid multiple back-ends, put your username to the scanner group, blacklist usblp and remove the Epson Image scan front-end.
