[SOLVED] Xsane OCR feature won't work

Post by expat_tony »

I'm testing Xsane on my trusty Lide 60. Colour and Grey work well, but when I tried the OCR menu button I got this error:

Child process error
Failed to execute OCR command : gocr:
No such file or directory

I emphasise that I did not write the above gocr:. All I did was click on buttons.
Is there a repair for this? Is this a directory I need to create, and where?

You need to edit xsane for the appropriate OCR software.
Either cunieform, tesseract or install gocr
You might also want to install YAGF as it provides a GUI and makes things a little simpler.
Uhhh, maybe this will work?

Thanks very much, I installed YAGF using Synaptic Package Manager, and I now have a working OCR (using tesseract).
