I got it solved, I was able to download lsb 4.1 and then the installer worked.

I also found this in my search https://wiki.linuxfoundation.org/en/Ope ... erPackages

I hope this helps the next person that runs into this issue

I just wanted to give a victory report with the Epson printer I just plugged in.

I need a printer at home, so I plugged in this Epson printer via usb to desktop PC, under Linux Mint, printer was recognized and the drivers were automatically installed. (Like a windows user!)

Just going to see if Scanning works, but very impressed that printing works fine, wifi on printer is perfectly working too.

Make: EPSON
Model: WF-2540
Wifi support
Fax, Scan, Print all in one, its quite small so perfect for home user or small business.

If your looking to print with Linux I strongly suggest buying one of these, they are an older printer but works perfect.

PS: With Linux Mint 18 Cinnamon, installing the cinnamon panel applet "Printers" works awesome and is nice to have. :)

Linux mint 64 bit with EPSON WF-3620 printer / scanner
scanner drivers are downloaded
tar xaf iscan-bundle-1.0.3.x64.deb.tar.gz

Change to the folder where you downloaded this scanner driver bundle,
extract it and install all components with

tar xaf iscan-bundle-1.0.3.x64.deb.tar.gz
cd iscan-bundle-1.0.3.x64.deb
./install.sh

Change WHAT? to the folder where i downloaded this scanner driver bundle,?
and extract it WHERE?
and install it HOW?

Hello,

I was hoping you guys could help me out. I'm very new to Linux and I would like to uninstall the Epson drivers that I installed. I installed the epson-inkjet-printer-201105w_1.0.0-1lsb3.2_i386.deb from http://download.ebz.epson.net/dsc/du/02 ... 877ce71d25 and the iscan-bundle-1.0.4.x64.deb.tar.gz from http://support.epson.net/linux/en/iscan ... sion=1.0.4. What is the best way to uninstall these drivers? I would like to get rid of everything they loaded. Thanks

Hi,

I have just installed an Epson XP-640. I could not find a driver specific to this printer so I used one called epson-201208w which, I think, is generic for the XP-600 series. I found it here:

http://www.openprinting.org/printer/Eps ... 600_Series

It all works except that when I ask for duplex flipped on long-edge I get duplex flipped on short-edge and vice versa. Any suggestions as to how I can fix this?

Many thanks.

I own an Epson XP-530 and couldn't find a satisfying driver for it. I did use the epson-inkjet-printer-escpr package and got the printer to work, but only on a very low resolution so it looked as if the paper came from a 9-pin needle printer.
There was no way to use the full potential of the printer.

Then I installed the gutenprint package and saw a long list of Epson printers with just one XP type: XP-820. I selected that one, used the matching ppd file and now I can select up to 5760x2880 dpi.
The gutenprint package comes from the internet: https://sourceforge.net/projects/gimp-p ... 2.12-pre4/
I fully installed the package with ./configure, make and make install.
For ./configure I used this line:

Code: Select all

./configure --enable-cups-ppds
This provides the ppd files which you can use to setup the printer.
Even though I use a ppd file which is not for my printer, it works great.

When you managed to do this I would suggest to add at least 2 printers, one with 720 dpi for normal text printing (printer is stil reasonably fast while output is okay) and one with a higher dpi value for photos (should you want that).

Looking at the long list of Epson printers out there I just wonder why they don't develop just half of that amount, reducing engineering costs which they can then use to build decent Linux drivers. Hardware suppliers just don't like Linux.

Why is my printer not working all the sudden?
Fresh install of Mint 17.3 printer setup just fine.

Couple of months later... Printer doesn't have the programs it needs to work.

How do I fix this issue? Newbie who has read a lot of forms and nothing is working for me. Would love to understand more about the cups system and why this happened. I am positive it is something that I did, maybe an update or upgrade. Just need some guidance please.

Hey guys,

I just bought an Epson Workforce WF-7610 and I have a slight problem: If I print multiple copies of a PDF with a single page, and in the print options chose "One Sided", it will always print an extra blank page between the copies, so it prints 2n sheets. If I set the options to "two sided long edge", it apparently "prints" the blank page to the backside of the sheet and I get n sheets (n beeing the number of copies).

I guess this is not normal behaviour? I installed the driver by simply selecting the network driver in the mint printer option, which then downloaded printer drivers itself.

Oh, and I noticed that I can set the print resolution to only to 300 dpi.

Ideas?

Hi. I've recently installed Linux Mint 18.2 on my notebook. I have an Epson XP-231 printer and I want to configure it to print. I could install the printer through a web site but when I sent the order to print, the paper get loaded without the printing (no ink on the paper). How can I do a right setup?
