HP Laserjet 1018 on Mint 17 processing but not printing

Post by leo.s »

Could this be due to a wrong printer driver? Please advise recommended correct driver for this setup. Leo.

Hi
I had the same problem using a EEEPC901 netbook. I found a solution in the following thread
http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=134738 toards the bottom.

sudo apt-get install hplip-gui

Back on desktop
Menu>Preferences>HPLIP Toolbox

Under the Actions tab click 'Install Required Plugin'

Printer bursts into life and I can then print a Test Page.

Good Luck.

Hello, The solution you described is the simplest one among many others I found. What is more important - it works also for the new Linux Mint distribution! I had the problem with Linux Mint 19.1 - Cinnamon and my HP 1018 printer. Other, much more sophisticated solution found on https://www.fosslinux.com/1547/install- ... ry-os.htm/ , also needed to install a suitable plugin. It failed, apparently because my Linux Mint 19.1 version appeared to be not supported. I installed then LMDE 3 version, but the problem was still not solved, until I installed hplip-gui, which allow to install the required plugin automatically. Many thanks!
