New user: Dell B1163W Printer help

Hi everyone,

I love Linux Mint. I use it for my parent's machine, and I never get any calls for virus or anything.
I have a small issue where we have a dell laser printer, but I can't find any linux drivers for it. I don't thinlk they make them.
Is there anyway to install drivers on mint?

Any help would be much appreciated

generally speaking, the Dell range of equipment is usually a re-badge of someone - else's equipment.

that being said, Dell doesn't always supply drivers for any Linux system, unless their built the PC themselves.

so - you may be better off, in obtaining another printer, that is more Linux friendly.
- HP
- Epson
- Brother laser
are some, which will work.

After you have downloaded the file and saved it, most likely to your Downloads folder, untar and unzip it via a right click and selecting "Extract Here".
Once extracted there should be a "Readme" file or instruction on how to install the driver.
