What driver to use for Canon imageCLASS D860

Post by cornell »

I've a Canon imageCLASS D860 laserprinter and am running Linux Mint Rosa. I've plugged the printer in via USB.

When I open Administration/Printers and hit Add, a Select Device opens listing devices, including "Canon iC D800 (0021548Duj)" Clicking it, Description says "A printer connected to a USB port.", hitting Forward, a window pops up "Searching for Drivers", which fails, and then I'm offered to Choose Driver. I selected Canon, and the only models I found with "800" or "860" were i860, i860old and 860i.

I've tried them all, and when I try to print a test page, I get a notification that there was a printer error "paused". The printer shows no error, and shows ready. I've also tried restarting CUPS before attempting to print the test page, without success.
