Linux Mint 18 en HP wifi printer B109n

Post by femke98 »

I have installed Linux Mint 18 yesterday. I installed via Synaptic HPLIP en HPLIP-gui.
HPLIP is version 3.16.3
In Linux Mint 17 it was in 2 seconds i have my printer, but now it won't work.
I tried to installed the latest version but also this won't work. :(
I get this:

HPLIP cannot detect printers in your network.
This may be due to existing firewall settings blocking the required ports. When you are in a trusted network environment, you may open the ports for network services like mdns and slp in the firewall. For detailed steps follow the link. http://hplipopensource.com/node/375

but my firewall is off.

I see on the website of HPLIP that Linux Mint is NOT supported.
I read somewhere else:
Linux Mint V18 is not listed as supported; there are listings for Linux Mint 17 - 17.3 in the Wizard.

Its crazy!
In CUPS i don't get my printer.I don't want to go back to Mint 17. :(

Is there someone who have a solution?

Femke,

HPLIP isn't aware of the OS, it checks out the kernel. Did you check out this : http://hplipopensource.com/node/295 and checked whether your network system contains all the requiered libs ?

The printer is supported in Ubuntu 16.04, which makes it automatical supported in Mint 18... http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/mo ... 09n-z.html

I use HPLIP on several machines with both Mint 18 and openSUSE, but it never automatically detects our network HP printer. Is your printer connecting to a router, or directly to a single computer? If it connects to a router as part of a network, when you start HP setup, in the Device Discovery window, click the Network radio button, then "Show Advanced Options", then check the "Manual Discovery" box. Type the printer's IP address in the field, click Next, and your device should be found. Proceed from there.
If the printer connects directly to a single computer, HPLIP says setup requires a temporary USB connection, and does not work with all devices.

Howard
