Printer issues Mint 18

My canon LBP2900B has been detected and set as default. But when i hit the printer button in documents, Nothing is happening. Kindly help me fix it.

hmmmmmmm... I'll need to look deeper, seems this guy went out of business. My bad...

i downloaded and extracted it. Installed using package installer. it shows same version is already installed. :x .what to do now ?

You might try 'uninstall package' and then 'install package' again. After installation (or before removing) check Synaptic to see if any updates are available. And check for broken packages...

my printer is automatically detected and shows in printer list. I kept it as default also. But while trying to print , it shows "could not start printer, check your configuration" .So downloaded the driver from canon website with the link that dl9200 posted. Installed both common and capt. But it shows same already exist . so removed and again installed, then also showing , same version already exist.
@dl2900 ; im a newbie and i dont understand the synaptic manager. it luks very messy for me.
