Sharp MX-M753u doesn't works

Post by Hambs »

Hey guys I moved in my new office and I found this network sherd printer Sharp MX-753u, I tied so hard with everything found online but I am still not able to print with this printer. The printer is set to have a username and password different for each employee. I run Linux mint mate 18.
Can anyone help me please I am forced to boot on Windows every time I need to print something and it's very frustrating. :?

I think that will take you into this territory: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Netwo ... WithUbuntu so that seems to me to involve samba; fortunately on Mint is user altair4 if I have the name correct; he may well offer some help;

looks your device will use the postscript-sharp driver as mentioned here: Open Printing is the support for open source printing in linux: they have tried devices that must be very close to yours: ie the MX-M754FN http://www.openprinting.org/printer/Sha ... -MX-M754FN

you can download the ppd; put it in user/share/cups/model and if you configure from cups http://localhost:631/ and elect to point cups to a ppd file;

but if it is a windows server you need to get into, seems to me you need samba
