No need to Reply guys, I need to take a good look and takes notes, and then apply this stuff again. Clearly I did not do all steps.

After setting up my Epson WF-845 perfectly the first time with kyphi's instructions here, I tried it again with this XP-310 but it did not work, does anyone have an idea why this would be?
viewtopic.php?f=42&t=225289

Also, when I ran

Code: Select all

$ sudo gksu gedit /etc/sane.d/epkowa.conf

I got this Error:

Code: Select all

** (gedit:3117): WARNING **: Set document metadata failed: Setting attribute metadata::gedit-position not supported

Would this cause any problems with this scanner fix?

Don't know where to go from here

Thanks, pc

I have always seen the command written as

Code: Select all

gksudo gedit
....... I would have to google to see if there is a difference; there are good arguments as to why to use gksudo: ....... I need to find "chapter and verse"

Ahh, I see what you are saying, it's been a long time since I've used gedit. I think you are correct and will study up on it as it happened on two machines. I used KDE for a long time, so Kate and Nano were more of what I used. gedit is very nice to use so will definitely figure this out.

I wonder if you would get the same error messages if you used

Code: Select all

gksudo gedit /etc/sane.d/epkowa.conf

........ you could "give it a whirl" in a terminal and see what happens ..................
