I have an Epson WF-3620 installed as a network device (i.e., 192.168.*.*), so it's accessible to my Mint 17.3 box and also to a Win7 machine on the same net. Did installation on both. Win7 prints fine; Mint gives the light print (black as grey, etc.) that has been reported in the past in other threads. Used drivers from Epson; CUPS 1.7.2 reports
Epson WF-3620 Series - epson-inkjet-printer-escpr 1.4.1-1lsb3.2 (Seiko Epson Corporation LSB 3.2)
Tried the suggestions re changing paper quality, etc.; none of these seem to have any effect; also printer parameters do not show up on CUPS Web interface page, although the printer parameters show up on the system printer config GUI. My suspicion is that something is not being communicated from the printer driver to CUPS and from there to the printer.
All I can think of is to change the choice of network protocol (ipp, ipps, JetDirect, etc.) What effect would this likely have?
Thanks in advance for any useful ideas. - dhfx

Hi "dhfx",
Maybe newer drivers would help...
Espon Linux Drivers Download page, enter in wf-3620, select linux, download the files
- install them in the order listed.
http://download.ebz.epson.net/dsc/searc ... archModule
After installing the newer drivers, reboot, then change the printer's quality settings to normal or best.
Hope this helps ...

Re: Epson WF-3620 prints light from Mint 17.3, but OK from Win7
Deleted printer, downloaded and installed latest drivers, reinstalled: CUPS now reports
"Epson WF-3620 Series - epson-inkjet-printer-escpr 1.6.13-1lsb3.2 (Seiko Epson Corporation LSB 3.2)"
Test page from printer control GUI now prints correctly when paper type set to Standard. Setting to Draft gave "light" print as originally reported; Vivid and High gave same result as Standard. So - some progress, and thanks to phd21 for that suggestion.
HOWEVER: Printing from an application still gives light (Draft) print.
Also tried 2-sided printing; this gave 2-sided output and also caused the job to repeat until killed. My guess is that something is garbling the option settings on the way to the printer.
Also installed Epson's iscan utility. Now seeing iscan on the GIMP File | Create menu as an option, but when I try to do a scan, I get an error message that the command could not be sent to the scanner. But this is a separate issue; I gather lots of users have had problems getting the scan to work.
