help, Driver for my printer?
Hello!
I m using linuxmint sonya, and i was trying to install the driver for my printer but i was not able to find it "Konica minolata bizhub 162" it prints in black and white and scan papers.
I tried some closer drivers of the same brand, but didn't work.... it is currently working on my other pc that is running windows 7.... but i prefer linuxmint for office work.
Can anyone help me ? I tried to find the PPD for this model but didn't find it, and PPD only work for printing out and not scanning as i read, but anyways i didn't find it.
On the company's page i found drivers just for all windows versions. but no linux.
Any help appreciated.
Thank you very much!

Re: help, Driver for my printer?
Open Printing is the source of open-source support for printing in Linux
if you search on Konica Minolta, they list a variety of bizhub printers: I can't find a single review of the 162: please tell us which country you are in and how old the printer is;
here is a link http://www.openprinting.org/printer/KON ... bizhub_360 that gives ppd files etc ...... I wonder if some of the support on this page with help you

you can see what folks already believe works perfectly ............. you may well be able to edit a ppd file; and then point the printer config to use that ppd file; when it is saved into your system

It is a European model, the drivers and manuals of it are available on the main webpage of konica minolta :
https://www.konicaminolta.eu/en/busines ... enter.html
According to the web, it is 2005 model
Listed under " multifucntional black/white " bizhub 162.
it prints and scans file and send to computer.
Thank you very much for your help

Re: help, Driver for my printer?
sorry, the same as topic starter - Konica minolta bizhub 162
bizhub162 is not know to OpenPrinting
so as mentioned above. if you also look on the Open Printing website; this device is not even mentioned;
I enclose below a screenshot of part of the ppd file for the 360; where it specifies 360: if you were to download that ppd file; edit with a text editor: eg gedit; change it to say bizhub162; instead of what it now says; save it as bizhub162; save it to /usr/share/ppd
as per https://www.linuxquestions.org/question ... tu-337393/
then go to PRINTERS folder; click on NEW: get it to point to a ppd file as it gets going; point it to bizhub162 in the ppd folder; that is inside /usr/share/ and the system should save a copy of the ppd file in /etc/cups/ppd as an installed ppd
any joy?

Re: help, Driver for my printer?
this doesn't work, at least in the case where i connect to the printer via smb://ip/printername
linux mint is adding printer (with edited ppd provided), but no print job is successful

Re: help, Driver for my printer?
According to this ...
https://www.biz.konicaminolta.com/downl ... 09621.html
... the ppd for that printer is only supported with Red Hat linux or OpenOffice, the latter I suspect as a plugin. Considering that you can't just install a Red Hat rpm package in Debian/Ubuntu/Mint without converting, and even then it often doesn't work, I'd look at the openoffice idea.

Konica Minolta BizHub 162
hi illki;
can you post a screenshot of the same part of the ppd that I posted; with your edited version please; so we can see what it looks like;
Hoser Rob kindly contributes a piece from a KM guide; "the ppd for that printer is only supported with Red Hat linux or OpenOffice," just not sure about that; a ppd file does not seem to specify an operating system on it; the instructions for the C2060 show it is a very capable machine https://www.konicaminolta.com.au/produc ... ress-c2060
The bizhub162 is also a large and capable machine https://www.tradebit.com/filedetail.php ... bizhub-210

......... I am just wondering if: ............. maybe the ppd is actually ok; and that there are other access errors; we won't have a better idea till we see what issues Mint faces; till we get to read an error log

Re: help, Driver for my printer?
my model of Bizhub 162 also don't have network, so it is connected via USB to tp-link 310 print server, but when i try to connect printer not via smb, but via ip of print server - linux mint does not even find it and there is even no option to ppd or other means of driver install
