Brother HL-L2340D Prints in reverse?

Post by MintBean »

My printer prints just fine, however the pages come out in reverse order. This is printing over the network, haven't tried a direct connection.
Anyone else seeing this, and is there a fix?

checking in our printer settings, I can't see an option listed; to alter print order;

however I see in LibreOffice, there is a setting to alter print order; thumbnail enclosed;

GiMP seems to have the same option

Thanks- I see an option to print in reverse page order, but since I have never selected that it would be at best a workaround for something that's wrong elsewhere in the pipeline.

I do not have same printer as you, have MFC-685CW (Brother), and I'm thinking it used to 'Reverse order' print (when desired) . My printer delivers pages print side up, and no matter what method i try to fool it now, it prints page 1, page 2, page 3, etc., so, in the delivery tray they are (print side up) last page on top , first page on bottom, and I have to manually re-stack (Is this what you mean by reverse order?). It's not too bad if I'm printing single copy, with low page count, but if it's multi copy/high page count, it's a PITA! Network or USB connected, I still can't reverse page order from Linux OS, yet I can reverse order print simply By choosing back-front order, from three (mine included, dual boot) Windows computers on my network.

Things recently discovered:
My Linux laptop has same problem, trying to 'Network Print'
Now here's something that might help: In my desktop computer, I opened a multi-page document using 'LibreOffice', clicked the 'Printer' Icon. Printer menu appeared ( showing page 1 in 'Preview' pane). I selected 'Print in reverse page order' , and 'Preview' switched to last page. Clicked 'OK' to print, and it printed as desired (Back-Front order). :D :D
So, it would appear 'LibreOffice' print control is good, but regular print control is not sending proper instruction (FIX REQUIRED).
Note: Both Linux OS systems are up to date (as of 05/17/2020) Mint 19.2 'Tina' (64 bit)

Check:
  • the printer settings via webpage if networked, e.g. my HL-L8260CDW is on 192.168.0.4.
  • printer settings in mint admin > printers > your printer > properties > printer options
