Mint 18.3 XFCE and Epson WF-series printer didn't print...

Post by rivvedup »

...but it does now. Here's what happened: When installing 18.3 from a Live USB, with the printed turned OFF, and Epson WF-2630 drivers installed, the printer could not be added through the Printers configuration (Menu-System-Printers-Add Printer). Symantic Package Manager showed the cups 2.1.3.4ubuntu0.3 package was not installed. Installing cups and rebooting solved the problem, allowing printer configuration and printing. I've not been able to test the Live USB with the printer turned on, so there may be an update to this post.

"Well, I broke Windows...now I can break Linux!" :D

P.S. If anybody thinks this post belongs elsewhere, please advise. Thanks.

UPDATE #1 (Jan. 15, 2017): the missing CUPS file is included on the Live USB I installed from, but I have no way to test a new install without wiping out my current one.
