Epson ET-4550

Post by rholtet »

SOLVED

I have been unable to successfully install my Epson ET-4550 printer. I am using Linux Mint 18.3 Cinnamon 64-bit. When I try to install the printer it is discovered as a network printer over my wi-fi but when I go to try to find a driver there is nothing listed for an ET-4550 in the list under Epson. I tried installing the generic driver and it will print a test page but the page always comes out blank.

I am totally new to linux and any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the reply Jerry

I have tried to download and install the driver for my printer from here but i get the following error message when I try to install

"Your system has broken dependencies. This application can not continue until this is fixed. To fix it run 'gksudo synaptic' or 'sudo apt-get install -f in a terminal window"

I tried running the terminal window command but it did not help, is still get the same error message.

Jerry, it turned out I was downloading the wrong driver from the list. I tried another and all seems to be working now.

Thanks for your help

good that this is working well now.

this printer is airprint-compatible; and that airprint-compatibility will be in the 18.04 Ubuntu that will form the next Mint release ......... in July .......... https://support.apple.com/en-nz/HT201311

so a device such as this should be recognised; and be given what seems to be "driverless" connotation but that will print; (airprint compatibility came to Ubuntu in 17.04 .. one of their short-term releases; Mint will take the 18.04 LTS as its next)
